January 1, 2012 brought a number of new laws in Illinois. Below are the top 12 new laws of that may be of
interest to you.
- Adults are required to wear seat belts when riding in the back seat of a vehicle. (P.A. 97 0016) ,
- “Andrea’s Law” creates a First Degree Murderer Database to track convicted murderers after their release from prison. (P.A. 97-0154) 3.
- The assault or battery of a process server or special court-appointed special process server in the performance of his or her duties is a Class 3 felony. (P.A. 97-0313)
- Non-CDL holding school bus drivers are subject to reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing. (P.A. 97-0466)
- A false report of child abuse to DCFS is a Class 4 felony. (P.A. 97-0254)
- A municipality can garnish wages of an employee for a debt owed to a municipality after a hearing conducted by the municipality before an administrative hearing of1icer. (P.A. 97-0120)
- It is a crime to falsely represent oneself as a veteran or public service officer in order to collect a donation. (P.A. 97-219)
